The film set of Do Anjaane was the starting point of their love story. It was 1976 when Big B was already married to Jaya. They started meeting in the bungalow of Rekha's friend initially. That time no one in the industry knew about this love affair. Everything was going smooth. But then an accident happened in the sets of Ganga Ki Saugandh.
It was 1978 when in the sets of Ganga Ki Saugandh a co-actor of Rekha started misbehaving with her continuously. Big B was very angry, and he started losing his temper on that actor. Though these two never accepted their love, it was loud and clear when the director of the movie Silsila, Yash Chopra confirmed their #relationship.

This speculation caught fire when the diva, Rekha entered into the wedding venue of Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor wearing a mangalsutra and sindoor. Rekha was fearless from the starting of her career. She started flaunting her love for Bog B in front of everyone. Rekha finally moved on and tied a knot with Mukesh Agarwal in the year 1990. She finally got what she desired for a lifetime, a legitimate surname. But fate played a lousy game with her again when Rekha saw her husband taking pills all day. She got to know that her husband was mentally ill. Still, she tried hard to survive because she really wanted to spend the rest of the life with her husband. But destiny decided something else for her. They were in London over a week when Mukesh said with a gloomy face 'There's an AB in my life too.'
Rekha couldn't find a solution and decided to leave her husband and his family. Mukesh then hanged himself with Rekha's dupatta and their marriage ended within just seven months.

It is said that Rekha still is in #love with Amitabh even after so many years. In the year 2008, she gave an interview to Hindustan Times.
