The laughter was loud!! And, why it shouldn’t be? Everyone in the #family was laughing at once. Then a sudden phone beep is heard and everyone paused. Anand rushed to his phone while everyone recalls its been more than 10 minutes since they checked their phone. The laughter vanished in the air and things were back to normal, i.e. everyone got busy with their own life in their respective phones or maybe with a hidden life in their phone.
Probably you are Anand, the one, who is in conversation with your parents, but a sudden beep on your #phone attracts you and the conversation is lost, lost forever. You can also be the one, who eat while concentrating on the phone rather than on food. You might be the one, who spend time more with the phone than the people, but complain about feeling lonely. You can also be the one, who has developed a habit of going through the endless unnecessary notifications but does not know, why? You can also be the one who is offended, if your partner sees your phone or try to see what you do in your phone OR you can be one, who is always curious to see what your partner does in his/her phone. The list can continue, you know better than me.
Okay, so now you have understood the idea of writing this article and somewhere in your brain, a thought has started with ‘But’, ‘But I’ or probably you recalled few of such moments. The biggest broader argument would be, smart phones allow socialisation and the phone helps connect with people. Connect with people? Really!! What connections? It has taken off your connections! The usual meetings have reduced to phone calls and phone calls have reduced to chatting. The time that was for building human connects with your family, college, workplace, while travelling etc. is being zeroed down to, checking your phone.
